Today, we are pleased to announce the release of CFEngine 3.20.0! Over the past few years we’ve focused on ease of use, new user experience, and out of the box value, giving you the ability to do much more through only the Mission Portal Web UI. This has resulted in several important steps forward; policy analyzer, compliance reports, host specific data (CMDB), and CFEngine Build with custom promise types and other modules.

What’s new Some smaller features and improvements were added to 3.18.2. Most of these are centered around newer functionality, such as compliance reports. Compliance report widgets and improved UI Compliance reports are one of our most powerful report types, allowing you to compile all your security and compliance requirements into one checklist, and easily see exactly how many hosts are failing and passing each check.
A while back we released version 2 of cfbs, and even though we release versions of this tool quite frequently, without announcing it on the blog, we thought this was a good opportunity to talk a bit about the tool, what’s new and our direction with it in the future. The reason why we called this the “2.0” release is that we are trying to follow semantic versioning, and there were some big new features in the release which could be considered breaking changes.
Today, we are pleased to announce the release of CFEngine 3.19.0! In 2021, for this release, and the launch of CFEngine Build, our focus has been on collaboration. We want to deliver a lot of value to our users through modules, and enable you to share and cooperate on policy, promise types, compliance reports, etc. CFEngine 3.19 is not an LTS release, so the intention for us is to give you a chance to start testing and giving feedback on the new features we are developing, before they land in an LTS version next year.

We are pleased to announce the release of CFEngine 3.17.0, with the theme Flexibility! This is a non-LTS release and allows the CFEngine community to test the features which will be in CFEngine 3.18.0 LTS (Summer 2021). What’s new? A new look - Mission Portal Dark Mode Mission portal now gives you the option of switching to an alternate color theme, dark mode: Trigger report collection from Host Info Page You no longer have to wait for the next reporting interval, or use the command line to get updated reports.

New in Mission Portal 3.15.3 Synchronizing roles between Mission Portal and Active Directory When using LDAP for authentication, Mission Portal can now automatically grant roles based on the tags received from your LDAP server (for example Active Directory).
As a follow up to my previous “personal policy” blog I have exciting news: An improved CFEngine is available for Termux! This provides a way to play with policy and implement policy on your non-rooted Android phone! Version 3.17.0a1-termux is an alpha release so understand it’s not heavily tested. That said, CFEngine for Termux is looking pretty awesome and useful. Highlights of features: allow self-bootstrap to loopback since Android devices often change their IP address and bootstrapping locally seems to make some sense for a developer device and ability to play around, this is just as helpful on the desktop for that matter.
